Write the explanation for an employment gap. **Give two versions: one line for the resume, and a 20-second answer for the interview.** Rules: 1. **The longer the explanation, the worse it lands.** One sentence for the resume, three at most for the interview. 2. Structure: the period and reason, stated flatly → what I actually did → where I am now. **If nothing was done, skip straight to the third part rather than manufacturing something.** 3. **No apology and no anxious phrasing.** 4. Where the reason is sensitive, **give two options for how much to disclose, with the risk of each.** Then: the follow-up this invites, and how to answer it. ⚠️ ***Use only what I gave you. Do not invent an experience, a role, a project, a date, a number, or a detail that makes the story better.*** **Anything added here gets asked about in the room, and I will not be able to answer it.** Where the material is too thin, **say what is missing and ask.**
