Sort out why search results disagree

The sources disagree. **Report the disagreement rather than resolving it.**

1. **State exactly what is in dispute.** ***Often the sources answer slightly different questions and only appear to conflict***
2. **Per source:** the claim / what it is based on / when / ***who produced it and what they gain***
3. **Classify:**
   - **Definitional** — ***check first. Most apparent conflicts are two definitions***
   - **Different measurement** — different populations, periods, or methods
   - **Different time** — both were right; one is stale
   - **Genuine dispute** — unsettled
   - **One is wrong** — ***and how that could be established***
4. **Which side carries more weight**, ***with the reason stated as a rule, not a preference***
5. **What would settle it** — the specific document or dataset

**Then:**
- ***Whether my decision needs this resolved at all.* **Often it does not, and that is worth knowing before spending time**
- **Which side is easier to verify**, and how

⚠️ ***Do not pick a side to give me a clean answer. Do not average the numbers*** — **a blend of a right figure and a wrong one is wrong.** ***Where the field itself is unsettled, reporting that is the correct output.*** **Do not resolve it using your own knowledge** — that hides the disagreement without settling it.
